Youth Leadership Service Project
NCIA's Sovereign Native Youth Leadership students from Walthill High School work on their service project with architect Gary Bowen of Bahr Vermeer & Haecker (BVH Architects) to build an outdoor community base and shelter. -
NCIA Attends Inter-Tribal Meeting in KS
NCIA staff traveled to Kansas last week to attend an Inter-Tribal meeting with the Kansas Commission on Indian Affairs, the Ioway Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, and the Sac and Fox Nation. Items discussed were updates about projects and issues each agency/tribe is currently engaged in and the possibility of including the Ioway Tribe and Sac and Fox Nation on the Board of the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs.

Artwork by Sovereign Native Youth Leaders
January 9-13, 2012, the Sovereign Native Youth Leadership Program's artwork was on display on the 1st floor of the State Capitol Building. Artwork was created by high school students in the program who represent the Ioway, Omaha, Ponca, Santee, and Winnebago Tribes during one of the monthly field trips organized by NCIA. Students worked with world renowned glass artist and Seminole Indian Therman Statom in conjunction with KANEKO and Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The program is funded by a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services.
